  Students taking classes at SFA only need a copy of the student book, not the whole set.  If you like the jingles and wish to have a cd, they are available separately.  Parents teaching Shurley at home need to purchase the set since the teacher manual is the most important component of the Shurley Method.
  The layout of the level 3 workbook is confusing and the type is small for 8 year olds.  Also, the writing instruction does not follow the trivium.  Though we will be using the Shurley "Question and Answer Flow" in our Language Arts A class, students do not need to purchase their own "workbook" which is primarily a reference book.
